Cairo Governorate issued a decision setting fees for filming advertisements and movie scenes in Cairo’s streets, buildings, tunnels and garages.
The governorate says that a fee of 15,000 pounds per hour will be charged for filming, and 100,000 pounds per day will be charged for filming.
– Acting Professions Syndicate head Ashraf Zaki says, “We will not pay anything.” He appeals to the governor to cancel the decision or reduce fees so that they are symbolic amounts, and he says that this is something that will harm the film and drama industry in general.
– While the governorate says that the reason for issuing the decision is due to monitoring abuses by some neighborhoods by exaggerating or wasting the right of the state.
– The issue is controversial between those who think that these fees are exaggerated, and those who think that large companies can pay, and some say that the decision will unfair small companies and individuals who do not have the means to pay these fees.
