An Egyptian research team was able to record a new discovery of a type of amphibian whale that lived in Egyptian waters 43 million years ago.
– A new study, the results of which were published in the “Proceedings of the Royal Society” journal, and its main author is Abdullah Gohar, a master’s student at the Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, who works within the team of Dr. Hisham Salam for vertebrate excavations.
The Egyptian position page team congratulates Abdullah Gohar and all his team, who raised the head of the Egyptians and honored us with an important scientific addition to the whole world, and an achievement worthy of all praise and appreciation.
– Abdullah Gohar said that the discovery represents an addition to studies of the Egyptian and African natural heritage about fossils, and also said that documenting a new type of amphibian whale represents a pivotal point in understanding the evolution of whales.
– This new study is considered an unprecedented achievement for Arab paleontologists, because it is the first time that an Arab-Egyptian research team has been led to document a new species of whale.
The Egyptian team named the discovered whale “Pheumsets” in relation to Fayoum, the place where the fossil was found. They also named the ancient Egyptian god of death “Anubis” for its species, so that the full scientific name of the whale remains “Pheumsetis Anubis.”
This study took 4 consecutive years, and a comparison of whale samples discovered by the Egyptian team took place with databases of other whale samples in Egypt and abroad.
– The truth is that this is not the first time we hear about the achievements of Dr. Hisham Salam’s team (Salam Lab), because 3 years ago they named Mansoura University after the fossils of a new dinosaur (Mansurasaurus).
– We are using this opportunity to remind the importance of scientific research and the future of our country that depends on this space, and we can see with the least possibilities our children were able to do, so what would happen if the support and encouragement space in the scientific research sector increased.
We repeat our talk about the constitution, which set 2% of the GDP for spending on scientific research, 4% for spending on pre-university education, and 2% for university education, at the same time that the government is circumventing this constitution in order to make spending less than the percentages. Constitutional.
Our children’s stories and achievements still give us hope for what will come if there is a will.
– We repeat our blessing to the Egyptian research team, which has scientific achievement, and we wish them success always in the future.
